Changes made.

Life continues to humble me. It used to happen yearly, or bi-annually. Now, daily. I am open to teachings from every sound, site, and other personal experiences that lead me to where I go. I find it easier to tap into the power of now, a beauty that I have eluded myself from for so many years like everyone else striving to get ahead of... whatever we are told to get ahead of. Here are some thoughts on current humbling changes and the beauty found. I am putting it in terms of dollars and cents because it is easier to see differences, however, the most profound changes are coming from a new mind set that is making enjoyment abundantly available and clear.

Past (per month spending):
$600 transportation
$800 rent and bills
$800 paid to creditors
$500 food
Total to sustain = $2700 (enslaving myself to make money for my freedom)

Present (per month spending):
$300 Transportation
$600 rent and bills
$0 paid to creditors
$100 food
Total to sustain - $1000 (I am a more free soul to express myself and my desires of life on a daily basis).

-My future goals is to reduce my transportation cost to $100 if not $0. I plan on doing this by reducing driving (or even having a car), and getting an electric assist bike.
-I hope to get my food through trade and/or grown at home or local garden, trading crafts (music, labor, environment advice,) and reducing the cost of food to $0-$50.
-I want to reduce my rent or money in rent equation by living communally so that bills and rent can be closer to $400 and/or make the $400-$600 easily through the love I can give into my music sharing, teacher sharing, story sharing, and environmental advice so that the thought of making ends meet is not an issue.

I am writing this in a blog because I am learning that I would like to share my story on REAL change. I believe real change is when the people, empowered through truth, knowledge, and wisdom, lift the lifestyle quality of themselves and everyone around them through the shared momentum of community power. Singularity and personal freedom has been taken to the extreme to not only be destructive to the environment, but also destructive to the freedom itself that it promotes through its propaganda nonsense. I desire to lift myself and others out of the idea that we are consumers to help an economy grow or stay afloat. Instead, we are the creators of our paradigm, shifting us into consciousness and aligning our body, mind, and spirit with the earth and the balance that we know we are a part of. It will be a blessed day when the poor lift the burden from the rich that we need them to survive and grow in science and social structure. As much as the richest men help us to be free through self indulgence and exercising freedom of personal will, the poorest of men are also help with freedom by exercising the freedom of indulgence in other ways; sometimes selfish and sometimes selfless. We as a people must embrace all equally without resentment of choice. This is our freedom and the only way to keep freedom of choice and will alive in our culture.

I am not convinced that the buying of 'things' will keep our culture free (as Bush implied after the 9-11 attacks). This only caters to the rich and imperialistic portion of our social structure. Our actions on what we buy or focus our intent and energy on IS the paradigm shift that will enable freedom to persist. Voting is also crucial for all classes of our society, for without the poor and middle class votes, the same corruption that is happening in this day and age will continue throughout our government and private sectors that are infiltrating THE PEOPLE'S government. When you can say that one or two individuals and/or corporations is affecting government choices and ideals is the day that the people have lost their voice and power in the balance of polity, business, and civil society. We have seen multiple forms of this take place in the short lifespan of my thirty years of being alive (1980 to presently 2009). Some examples are the over-involvement of Halliburton, Blackwater and the CIA in what they say is spreading freedom to far off places of the world such as the middle east. Private ties to crucial decisions in government will destruct into what is being created and deemed terrorism. Now, with the creation of just one word depicting the anti-social agenda (terror), private and government CORPORATIONS terrorize the people into mass hysteria. The idea of a paradigm happening through the present moment and the future of YOUR life is to break the hysteria and fear base tactics of mainstream media and create a BETTER way of living. Through your local Ohana created in your community and extended out through technological and spiritual ties, the movement should be fast and create a revolutionary change within our individual lives, promoting REAL freedom of your personal will, spirit, mind, and body.

I am searching for communities to share at throughout Northern California at this point. I would like to help in promoting a web of art, music, and cultural exchange between communities so that we can enrich our own lives without having to take a vacation. Our lives can be that way on a day to day basis if we enjoy our work and play the same.

Much love,
Justin

  1. I enjoyed stumbling upon this. I thought of throwing an equivelant to "liking" this post as if it were on facebook, but I decided that would not give any sincere acknowledgement, respect, encouragement. That would defeat the whole purpose of discussing a topic such as this, when a search for community thrives on communication (not on sole "yess'm"s and "sure, man"s).
We are fortunate with what we are given the chance to work with, people and experiences, no material goods necessary. And our ability to respect and then nuture those opportunities opens when the high society fog clears from our goggles. Not to say we should place ourselves on a mountain above that fog, because what can or can't you see below? We can care to situate ourselves more delicately and live in environments more conducive to growth (ours, not mine).
And I have no regret for how I lived in the past, because it has given me perspective that motivates me for how I may live now and in the future. Money often plays a role in what we need to survive. When we support each other, that energy we use to concern ourselves with supporting our individual lifestyles can then be used for whatever wonderful goals and projects you always wished you could work on. Of course, there is much gray scale to this. I am attempting to create this in the bay area, taking pointers from the interwoven communities I keep encountering. In some time/space, I'll have a house full of dreamers-turned-makers with a garden and chickens and such to sustain our bodies and adventurous minds. So as I relate to your goals and searches, I wish you good fortune. :)
